What a furnace cleaning actually involves

Power off at the disconnect first. Gas valve to off. Then the blower door comes off and the blower assembly slides out. The squirrel cage gets brushed and vacuumed, blade by blade. Caked dust on those fins kills airflow more than dirty filters do. Burners come out next. Flame sensor gets scuffed clean, not sanded. The heat exchanger is inspected with a mirror and light for cracks and soot streaking.
